Kathmandu, 4 July: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has expedited consultations within his own faction sending a very loud and clear message that he will vie for the top post of the party.
As the party’s 14th General Convention has been scheduled for September 1-4 in Kathmandu, Deuba held a meeting with Vice Presidents duo Bimalendra Nidhi and Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka, Joint General Secretary Prakash Sharan Mahat and leader NP Saud and discussed strategies to win the elections.
During the meeting Deuba defended his candidacy and reasoned that he would restore the lost image of the party and severe blow to the party candidates in the previous general elections. Also, he is eagerly looking forward to the Supreme Court verdict. In case the apex court hands down its verdict in favour of Deuba, it will be more comfortable for him to secure the party presidency again as he will appoint leaders to the ministerial posts to garner their support, according to reports.
