Kathmandu, 3 July: At a time when speculations are on about the failure of the unity efforts, the second generation leaders from both the camps in the UML have gathered for a meeting.
They have gathered at the Hotel Summit in Lalitpur and making final efforts for keeping the party united.
The Friday’s central committee meeting called by Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, an ultimatum was issued for withdrawing the signatures from the writ petition registered in the Supreme Court demanding the appointment of NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba as the PM. The CC meeting had demanded the withdrawal of the signatures by UML MPs within two days.
As Madhav Nepal was seen reluctant in withdrawing the signatures of UML MPs, it was speculated that the party unity efforts were failed.
Madhav faction’s leaders had demanded postponing the central committee meeting called for Friday for two days. Oli had denied postponing the meeting.
Nevertheless, the second generation leaders have made perhaps the last effort for saving the party from a split.
Bishnu Poudel, Shankar Pokhrel and Subhaschandra Nembang from the Oli faction and Surendra Pandey, Gokarna Bista, Bhim Acharya and Ghanashyam Bhushal are trying to find an outlet for saving the party from a split.
