Kathmandu, 13 May: As tensions between the State of Israel and Palestine escalates, Nepal has urged both Israel and Palestine to seek calm. Israel launched its military action after Hamas fired rockets in retaliation for Israeli police clashes with Palestinians in East Jerusalem, including at a holy site during the fasting month of Ramadan, according to international media reports. At least 65 people have been killed since the fighting broke out on Monday.
“Nepal is concerned about the escalating tension between Israel and Palestine. We call upon both sides to exercise maximum restraint and calm to avoid further casualties and destruction, and resort to peaceful means to resolve the problem,” taking to social media the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated.
