Loot-tantra has flourished in the name of loktantra. Everywhere, there is daylight loot in the country. Still, foreign agents are describing the system as an offensive one! What is “offensive” in fact? There is around a hundred per cent incline on the price of essential daily consumable goods; there is the scarcity of essential medicines, hospital beds, oxygen during the epidemic; the government is unable to bring vaccine against the Covid-19 virus; people are dying due to the lack of oxygen and proper treatment. People’s representatives are less bothered by the plight of the citizens. They are engaged in dirty politics. One section is trying to save the government and initiating different dirty and unhealthy strategies, meanwhile, another section is developing an unholy alliance to topple down the government – either in the center or in different provinces. They have no time even to express condolences and sympathy to the members of the deceased family from the epidemic. There is a prolonged lockdown in the country, which has directly affected those labour class people who were managing their two-time meal for their family. Besides, all sectors have been affected by the halt of all the economic activities. Helpless people suffering from the pandemic are expressing their utter dissatisfaction against their representatives saying that why the leaders are still safe from the pandemic! Neither the government has planned for distributing immediate relief package to the people nor the opposition parties putting pressure on the government for helping epidemic-affected people/sector. They are just concentrated to grasp power by any means. Is this the time to fight for power? This is the time for declaring a medical emergency and all the political parties joining hands to overcome the deadly virus. This is the time for all the political parties to mobilize their workers to help the helpless people.
Indeed, the system has already been collapsed, nevertheless, a small section of those who are in power, are enjoying the cream and exploiting taxpayers money as much as possible! Loktantra has become synonymous with ‘for the leaders, of the leaders and by the leaders’. The concept of the welfare state has already been collapsed. The people’s representatives have become the agent of the mafias who are influential in every sector. Citizens have been faded up from the dirty acts of the political leaders, unfortunately, they are helpless as they lack a strong organization and the political leaders are taking the benefit of the situation. The question is that how long should the country adopt this failed system? When should we get rid of the present hopeless situation? When are the Nepalis going to wake up for a better system?
