Kathmandu, 10 May: Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli is seeking a vote of confidence today. Until now, there is no certainty on whether the PM will bag all the votes in his own party UML or not.
In the meantime, the Janata Samajbadi Party has failed to issue a whip on whether to vote in favour of Oli or not. It is said that the Maahantha Thakur and Rajendra Mahato faction in the party has decided to remain indifferent, whereas, the Upendra Yadav and Baburam Bhattarai faction has decided to vote against the government led by Oli. The Nepali Congress and Maoist Center have already decided to vote against the government. It makes clear that PM Oli is going to lose the vote of confidence today.
However, if the Madhav Nepal faction will tender resignation en masse earlier to the voting today, the opposition group will be able to give an alternative government, otherwise, the group will also be unable to form a government. Such a situation may grant the opportunity for Oli to lead a minority government and dissolve the house.
