Kathmandu, 6 May: As floor test at the House of Representatives (HoR) is nearing, Prime Minister and Chair of the ruling CPN-UML Khadga Oli is devising multiple strategies to remain in power while his opponents within the party too are busy vamping up new tactics to foil his attempt.
Facing desperate situation by Oli’s oligarchy in the party, the disgruntled group of 37 members at the HoR, close to Madhav Kumar Nepal and JN Khanal are considering to tender resignation as lawmakers on Monday, the very day when Oli will seek support for the confidence motion at the HoR. “Since there is no option, we’re mulling to quit the parliament rather than cross the floor,” an MP close to Nepal-Khanal faction is quoted as saying in Ratopati, an online news portal. Though the faction is undecided whether to cross the floor or tender resignation, it may opt for quitting en masse just before the special session of the HoR begins on Monday as floor crossing will have negative impact on party cadres close to the discontented faction, the news portal reports.
