The ongoing week-long restriction order enforced in three districts of the Kathmandu Valley was extended till May 12.
A joint meeting of the Chief District Officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts held at the District Administration Office, Kathmandu on Tuesday decided to extend the ongoing stay-at-home order with some changes in the previous restriction rules by making it further stricter.
In a 10-point restriction order enforced in the Valley, the timing of opening and shutting down the food stores, departmental shops and other groceries have been changed. Now, such shops are allowed to open only in the morning from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. Earlier, it was allowed to open shops from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. However, foods supplying and transporting vehicles are allowed to operate till 10:00 am.
The local administrations of the three districts have also restricted from operating the bicycle and cart pull-based business on roads, footpath shops and scrap collection businesses.
In the new order of the CDOs, people wishing to leave outside the Valley must possess a recommendation and commitment letters from their respective local government ensuring him/her of staying 10-day quarantine in their home towns.
Employees working the printing press, security personnel, and medicine suppliers don’t need to have a separate vehicle pass.
Similarly, vehicles and officials of envoys and diplomatic missions also don’t have separate vehicle pass, according to the decisions.
Also, journalists and media houses were facilitated to have their free movement only from press accreditation cards issued by the Department of Information and Broadcasting, and if in case of not having such press cards, media houses were instructed to report and inform the number of staff to the DAO, and also ordered to depute only minimum employees.
Earlier, on April 29, the three district administration offices (DAOs) in the Kathmandu Valley had issued a week-long restriction order with an effect from April 29 after the infection rate of the coronavirus surged exponentially.
