Deuba objects to ordinances

By Our Reporter

Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba objected to the government’s decision to introduce seven ordinances, including the one related to the Constitutional Council.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari issued seven ordinances on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers. They include the Acid and other Harmful Chemical Substances, Constitutional Council (duties, responsibilities, rights, and working procedure first amendment.

Issuing a statement immediately after the issuance of the ordinances, Deuba objected to the move stating that the government was trying to bypass the people-elected parliament and rule with the help of ordinances.

He said it was not rational to issue ordinances by bypassing the parliament at a time when the summoning of the budget session of the parliament was delayed.
