Kathmandu,3 May: The President of the main opposition Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba has condemned the drama of Lumbini Province on Sunday where Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Shankar Pokhrel tendered his resignation from his post in the morning, reappointed in the afternoon and administered oath of office and secrecy in the evening amid chaos.
Issuing a press statement Deuba blamed that particular event had violated the constitution. He asserted that reappointment of Pokhrel as the Chief Minister following the resignation was illogical politically, constitutionally and morally.
Pokhrel tendered resignation at a time when the process for no-confidence motion was moving ahead. At the recommendation of Pokhrel the Provincial Chief Dharmanath Yadav prorogued the session of Province Assembly blatantly breaching the spirit and values of constitutional and parliamentary practice.
