Kathmandu, 25 April: The UML meeting on Friday called for dismissing 27 UML MPs, along with Madhav Nepal and JN Khanal, was ended without entering on the subject.
It is said that Prime Minister and UML chairman K.P. Sharma Oli has taken a 180-degree U-turn from his previous mood of taking action to the MPs belonging to the Madhav Nepal faction, reports Jana Aastha online portal.
Oli was in a mood to take action against at least 10 MPs including Nepal and Khanal.
However, on the Friday meeting, he was seen very soft towards Nepal.
In the previous meeting, Oli had spent a long time while defaming Nepal, which was not seen in the Friday meeting.
It is speculated that Oli is thinking of other alternates as there could be a big slide in the party if taken action to 27 MPs at once. Accordingly, the mathematics in the parliament may also be affected by such an action.
After the briefing of UML’s chief whip Bishal Bhattarai, PM Oli had remarked that he has wished for not creating damage in the party or the damage should be at a minimum level.
Oli held two meetings with Madhav Nepal and also holding separate meetings with the leaders in the Nepal camp. He is trying to bring the leaders in the Nepal camp into his camp with the plan of making weak Nepal in the party.
Oli said, “I have talked to Madhav Nepal, Bamdev Gautam and Yogesh Bhattarai to maintain unity in the party.”
“I am seriously trying to save unity in the party,” Oli had remarked.
It is said that Oli has postponed the decision of dismissing 27 MPs as he is doubtful of speaker Agni Sapkota’s role.
If Sapkota will not implement the UML’s decision, Oli will face a problem as relations between Oli and Sapkota are very cold.
The other reason could be the court’s upcoming verdict. The Supreme Court justices have felt that the previous court verdict has injustice Madhav Nepal and the next court verdict may come in favour of Nepal.
To note, the Nepal faction has knocked the court’s door against the Oli faction’s one-sided decision of dismissing the elected central committee body illegally.
