Kathmandu, 23 April: The Election Commission of Nepal has announced to hold by-election for the vacant post in National Assembly (NA) on May 20 this year.
The by-election would elect a member in place of Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar who was released from the position of the NA member recently. He was elected a member to the NA from Bagmati Province representing CPN (Maoist Centre). The Clause 61 of National Assembly Member Election Act-2075 BS mandates that by-election should be held within 35 days of vacancy if the term of office of NA member remains vacant for more than six months.
