PM Oli takes initiative to endorse MCC from Parliament

Kathmandu, 16 April: Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli has instructed the Working Management and Consultation Committee in the Parliament and the Law, Justice and Parliamentarian Affairs Minister to move forward the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a controversial American grant project, for its endorsement from the Parliament. 

For the last two years, the government registered MCC project is impending in the Parliament due to the non-cooperation of the then speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara and present speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota. The speakers closed to Maoist Center chairman Pushpakamal Dahal, have kept pending the government registered MCC files impending following the latter’s instruction. 

A section in UML and also Maoist Center chairman Dahal are performing non-cooperation in rectifying MCC from the Parliament. However, Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba and UML chairman and Prime Minister Oli are in favour of the MCC.
