Kathmandu, 15 April: Former King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, in his new year greetings issued on the eve of the new year 2078, Tuesday, has urged for unity among the Nepalis.
The former King has said that we can achieve success, not through division but by preserving strength and developing unity among us.
He has stated that success is based on unity, which will benefit the nation.
Our problems are common and this is not the time to watch one’s downfall by another. Progress or downfall of our nation is in our hands. We must break the circle of rejection and revenge, King Gyanendra has advised.
The former King has further advised making the nation prosperous and self-reliant by modernising our mountain villages; cultivating our Tarai land and cultivate fruit plants and establishing herb industries in hill areas.
Indicating the present anomalies in the country, the former King has insisted on practising politics of morale, being responsible for the people with devotion and honesty.
To achieve the greater goal of the nation’s prosperity, we have to end all kinds of hostilities and conflict, the former King has suggested.
This nation is gifted by our ancestors. All the Nepalis from Himal, Hills and Tarai should be united and protect this nation, the King has suggested.
Unnecessary exploitation of nature, financial manipulation, foreign influence and foreign dependency have to be ended. The system of benefiting cunning and clever people and exploiting honest people has to be ended, he has opined.
“We are entering into the new year 2078. On the occasion, we wish for happiness, peace and progress for all the Nepalis at home and abroad”, the former King has stated in the message to the nation.
