Kathmandu, 8 April: Former King Gyanendra and Queen Komal left for Delhi this morning to attend the Maha Kumbha Mela in the holy city Haridwar, India.
The royal couple left Delhi by the Nepal Airlines aircraft this morning. From Delhi, the couple will be proceeding to Haridwar.
Acharya Mahamandaleshwor of the internationally famous Hindu religious shrine in Haridwar had extended a special invitation to the former King as the status of the Hindu Monarch.
The Maha Kumbha Mela is being organised every 12 years. The former King will attend the special ceremony as the Hindu Monarch and take the first Royal Shower in the Mela on 13 April. Even the Indian Prime Minister and other Hindu leaders are allowed to take shower only after the King will take the Royal Shower, according to reports in different media.
Mohan Bhagwat, chief RSS and senior Hindu gurus and BJP leaders are attending the Festival.
