Did the Deputy Prime (and Defense and Foreign) Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal lie before the 51st session of the U.N. Human Rights Commission last Friday in Geneva when he emphasized, point-blank: “We have no political prisoner in Nepal”?
That, at least, is what INSEC, a local human rights body, more or less implied when it reacted to news report on the DPM’s address to the Geneva meeting by saying that it was complete false. For, according to its own estimation, there are presently twenty-three political prisoners housed in different jails in the kingdom.
