Nepal is likely to face the second wave of COVID-19. The constant rise of virus cases is a testimony to this.
While the cases in India and other Asian and European nations have sharply increased in recent weeks, Nepal may also witness a sharp rise in the cases.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health and Population confirmed 167 new COVID-19 cases and three fatalities in 24 hours, taking the nation’s novel coronavirus tally to 277,147.
“In 3,140 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 167 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Ministry of Health and Population in the regular press briefing.
Meanwhile, 115 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection on Tuesday. Nepal has now recorded 272,727 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 98.4 per cent. With three COVID-19 related fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours, the nation’s COVID-19 death toll at 3,030.
