Mass gathering of paid people

By Our Reporter

The two rival factions of the Nepal Communist Party has been organising one mass gathering after another to show their strength. But the reality has been otherwise as many of the participants revealed that they were paid for their participation.

While many people who attended the mass meeting of Dahal-Nepal faction on January 22 revealed in TV news that they were paid to travel to Kathmandu for the mass gathering. Then it was said that they were given Rs. 1400 plus food and lodging facilities.

Similarly, a woman who came to attend the Durbar Marga mass meeting of the government on Friday was heard telling that she was given Rs. 1050 for attending it. As the sky was cloudy with light rains, many of those brought from the Tarai were hurrying towards the buses before the mass meeting began fearing rainfall.

To attend the mass meeting of Oli-led faction, many cadres had arrived in Kathmandu from as far as Ilam and Terhathum.

Likewise, the participants of the motorcycle rallies were also paid. The participants said that they received one thousand rupees for petrol and one thousand rupees for tea-snacks.

Similarly, many of those who attended the second mass meeting of the Prachanda faction yesterday were also paid. The mass meeting organised at Exhibition Road threw the traffic system in chaos.

The huge gathering of the paid people does never reflect the popularity of the organisers of the mass meeting. Instead, it will cause the only inconvenience to commuters and general people. Moreover, such mass meetings could turn breeding ground for coronavirus.
