Oli’s opponents demand party Secretariat meeting

Kathmandu, 7 November: Nepal Communist Party’s co-chairman Pushpakamal Dahal along with four party Secretariat members JN Khanal, Madhav Nepal, Bamdev Gautam and Narayankaji Shrestha called on party chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli urging to call party secretariat meeting by tomorrow or day after tomorrow. At the meeting held this morning at Baluatar, Oli didn’t give reply about the proposed meeting, said spokesman Narayankaji Shrestha.
According to a source, the meeting today didn’t go smoothly. When his opponents asked to call the party Secretariat meeting, Oli had replied, “Why the meeting was needed to oppose me, when all are against me, why should I call the meeting?”
The team then returned empty-handed.
Friday’s informal Secretariat meeting had decided to meet PM and chairman Oli and submit a written letter demanding Secretariat meeting to discuss on all the disputed issues in the party.
As per the plan developed by Oli’s opponents, the delegation of senior leaders and party Secretariat members in the Prachanda-Nepal camp had called on PM Oli today.
Once Oli will reject to call the meeting, the next move will be initiated against Oli, according to sources in the NCP.
The next moe could be to call the party Secretariat and Standing committee meetings of the party without the approval of Oli soon to take action against Oli.
Oli has already advised to Prachanda to split and the party separately.
