
Kathmandu, 5 November: Nepali Congress (NC) women central members have demanded one-third representation of women in the office-bearers of the Nepali Congress. At a meeting organized on Wednesday evening, the participating women central members called for one-third representation of women in all eight structures of the party from ward to central level.
NC central member and former deputy prime minister Sujata Koirala said the party should ensure one-third representation of women from local level to central office-bearers to establish the rights and welfare of women.
Another central member and former minister Kamala Pant said the party should provide active memberships to at least one-third women. Likewise, lawmaker Dila Sangraula demanded bringing women leadership in the office-bearers of the party in upcoming general convention.
The women leaders condemned the incidents of violence, rape and murder of women taking place in serial manner. They said that the government’s act of breaching constitution based on majority, ignorance of federal democratic republic and interference on the constitutional bodies would in no way be agreeable.
