Kathmandu, 22 October: Overcoming several obstacles relating to procurement process, finally the government has selected a French company to print e-passports.
IDEMIA Identity and Security France SAS has been chosen as it bid the lowest amount (USD 21.1 million) for the procurement of security printing, supply and delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of equipment and personalisation of the passports, according to Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Directoer at the Department of Passports.
Owing to varieties of reasons earlier, the department had cancelled bidding procedures for the printing of e-passports twice.
