In the entire history, the Nepali people are marking Dashain festival without enthusiasm, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With rising cases of virus across the country and loss of income caused by lockdown, Dashain has become tasteless for many.
When the government has been urging people to mark Dashain in the place where they are living, many people living in Kathmandu and other cities are not returning to their villages to mark the festival. However, the people from Bagmati and Gandaki States are seen returning to villages from Kathmandu. The bus park which used to be overcrowded during Dashain in the past looks deserted this year as people fear to travel amidst the growing cases of coronavirus.
Moreover, the people who are returning to villages for the festival are likely to carry the virus and infected the people of villages, who are safe from virus till date.
If the virus spreads in rural areas, the situation will go out of control as rural areas lack health facilities. Hence, the government needs to discourage people to return to villages from cities, but the government seems least bothered about this fact.
