Nepal Communist Party Vice-chairman Bamdev Gautam became a member of the National Assembly by creating a lengthy dispute in the party with a sole goal of becoming Deputy Prime Minister and powerful minister, but the court prevented him from fulfilling his desire. As the court delayed in deciding the case filed against him owing to increasing infection among the court staff, Gautam’s desire to become DPM remained unfulfilled.
Although Prime Minister Oli snatched away the Defence portfolio from Ishwar Pokhrel and kept with him, probably to hand over it to Gautam after the court verdict, Gautam could not be inducted in the cabinet as the Cabinet has already had 25 members. According to the Constitution, the Cabinet should not have more than 25 members.
Hence, Gautam entry’s to the cabinet has become impossible in the near future.
