Even two weeks after the party standing committee resolved the intra-party dispute in the ruling Nepal Communist party with a condition that the cabinet would be reshuffled and major appointments would be made in the consulation of the party leaders, Prime Ministe KP Sharma Oli has been unable to reshuffle his cabinet due to clash of interest among the leaders.
Moreover, his decision to appoint Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada ambassador of the USA has spoiled the environment in the party because he had appointed Dr. Khatiwada, Lok Darshan Regmi as Nepal’s ambassador to the UK and Shankar Bairagi as chief secretary without consulting with another party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Again, Prime Minister Oli and Dahal have differences on the model Cabinet reshuffle as the latter wants a complete overhaul in the cabinet. But Oli wants to induct only six new ministers even by dividing the existing ministries.
Again, there have been many aspirants to become ministers in the party, which has also delayed the reshuffle. Clash between Bishnu Poudel and Surendra Pande for obtaining the portfolio of the Finance Ministry has already come to the fore with Pande announcing that he would not accept any portfolio except for the Finance Ministry.
