Kathmandu, 1 October: Chief secretary Lokdarshan Regmi has tendered resignation weeks ahead of his compulsory retirement. Regmi’s resignation has paved the way for the government to promote foreign secretary Shankardas Bairagi, senior-most government officer among the secretaries.
If Regmi had not tendered resignation, Bairagi was going to be retired earlier to Regmi’s retirement.
Regmi is likely to be named as the ambassador to the United Kingdom.
