Two and a half years after assuming his office, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is now preparing to make appointments in the constitutional bodies which have remained without officer bearers for a long time. Besides, he is searching for a suitable person to head the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, whose chief Navin Kumar Ghimire got retirement recently. Similarly, PM Oli is also planning to appoint a new chief secretary.
A meeting the party secretariat on Tuesday also instructed the government to fill up the vacant posts in the constitutional bodies by calling a meeting of the Constitutional Council.
Earlier, Prime Minister Oli and NCP chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal had arranged a meeting with leader of the main opposition party Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba to discuss the appointments in the constitutional bodies, but the meeting could not convene after one of the employees of Deuba’s secretary tested positive for COVID-19. Currently, over 40 constitutional positions are lying vacant because the ruling and the main opposition parties have failed to hold negotiations to fill up the vacancies.
