The health condition of Dr Govinda KC, who has been on a fast-unto-death in Ranichaur, Chandannath Municipality – 6, Jumla for over a week is deteriorating.
KC who has been in his 19th fast-unto-death was brought to Kathmandu and was forcefully admitted at the trauma centre of Bir Hospital on Tuesday was again taken to Teaching Hospital Maharjgunj Tuesday night.
However, the way Dr KC was treated by the government and police drew public criticism. He was forcefully lifted from the temple where he had begun his fast-unto-death to Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) before airlifting to Nepalgunj and Kathmandu.
Dr KC wanted to have his treatment at TU teaching hospital, but the police took him to the trauma centre using force. But when he denied receiving treatment at the trauma centre, he was allowed to go to the TU Teaching Hospital.
Youth and others have been protesting in Kathmandu demanding that the government should save the life of Dr KC, who has been launching his struggle for the correction of medical education in the country. But the government, because of its nexus with the operators of the private medical colleges, has always been undermining his demands.
