Kathmandu, 14 September: Eight fatalities and 512 new cases of corona virus infection have been reported in Kathmandu Valley on Monday, as per the information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its daily media briefing this afternoon. More than 1,200 people have contracted the deadly virus, so far.
Among the 512 cases detected today, 440 hail from Kathmandu while 29 cases of transmission have been recorded in Lalitpur and 43 cases in Bhaktapur, according to the Ministry of Health and Population. Likewise, a female patient and five males from Kathmandu and one each from Bhaktapur and Lalitpur succumbed to the deadly virus. All the deceased are of 55 plus age group.
The new infections were confirmed through PCR tests conducted across healthcare facilities in the valley including National Public Health Laboratory, Patan Hospital, HAMS Hospital, Star Hospital, Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Nepal Korea Friendship Municipality Hospital and Birendra Military Hospital.
Increasing number of Covid-19 infection is regularly being reported from within the valley in three digits since August 10. Public health experts have said that the virus has spread to community sending alarming signals. They have also urged one and all to take safety measures seriously and avoid crowds, remain indoors as far as applicable to flatten the curve.
