Kathmandu, 3 September : Leader of the Nepali Congress Ramchandra Poudel has said it was wrongful act to award contract for Kakadbhitta-Inaruwa railway without making public bidding. Such contract gives undue advantage to the contractors, he argued.
Issuing a statement, he said section 8, 9, 10 and 15 of the Public Procurement Act and Regulation (6) were flatly violated while awarding the contract. It was done without site clearance. The spending of Rs 35 billion from the national treasures without legal ground is sheer misappropriation. He pointed out the need of preliminary tasks like compensation to the lands falling under the railway project.
Poudel drew the attention of the government, parliamentary committee on public accounts, and development and technology committee and Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority to this wrongful act and take action accordingly.
