Why is PM Oli politicising Lord Ram?

By Our Reporter

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has, of late, irked India by claiming that Lord Ram was born in Ayodhyapuri of Chitwan, not in India. He even accused India of creating a fake Ayodhya. Although the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the PM had no intention to hurt India, PM Oli has not given up his stance.

Recently, he instructed the people’s representatives of Madi (Chitwan) to make a master plan of Adhyodhyadham including a huge Ram Mandir. He reiterated that Madi is the birthplace of Lord Ram.

The people’s representatives of Madi municipality had reached Baluwatar on Saturday evening after Prime Minister Oli called them by telephone.

During the two-hour meeting, Prime Minister Oli explained that Ram’s birthplace was Madi’s Ayodhyapuri and a Ram Mandir should be built in Nepal. “Ayodhyapuri is the birthplace of Ram. Build a magnificent Ram Mandir there,” Prime Minister Oli said to the people’s representative of Madi. “Send a master plan to develop the area as Ayodhya.”

It is not understandable why PM Oli has been politicising Lord Ram at a time when Nepal-India relations have not been in good terms.
