The delay in completing the much-talked-about
Melamchi Drinking Water Project is often blamed for corruption, and this time it was further revealed after a gate of the project broke killing an engineer and sweeping away a driver. The tunnel gate was damaged due to the poor quality construction and goods used in it, thanks to the corruption protected by Minister Bina Magar and her father-in-lawPushpa Kamal Dahal.
An engineer and a driver working for Melamchi Drinking Water Project have swept away along with their vehicle after the gate of the audit tunnel at Aambathan got damaged.
Engineer Satish Goit of Dhanusha district died and driver Radha Krishna Thapa of Godavari in Lalitpur employed by MDWP went missing. Two other — Engineer Shekhar Khanal of the project and consultant Pemba Lama, a resident of Melamchi –who were a in the vehicle were rescued by locals.
The government formed a committee to investigate the case and said the nuts and bolts were not properly used.
