Commission agent enters in NAC’s charter flights following Minister Bhattarai’s instruction

Kathmandu, 26 May: The nation is facing serious crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic. Even during such a critical period, the government led by Nepal Communist Party chairman KP Sharma Oli is involved in money making business.

After Health Minister Bhanubhakta Dhakal faced controversy regarding purchase of medical equipments, DPM and Defence Minister Ishwor Pokhrel, to enjoy the cream on the deal, handed over the responsibility to import urgent equipment to the Nepal Army.

In the meantime, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Yogesh Bhattarai is found putting pressure on the Nepal Airlines authorities to include a commission agent on the charter flight directly booked by the Australian Embassy here. The idea was just to enjoy commission on the chartered flight. Later, Bhattarai was compelled to oust the agent from the second chartered flight after local media exposed the commission episode.

Again, with the intention of enjoying commission, Minister Bhattarai is learnt to have instructed the NAC authorities to assign Sumegh Tour and Travels’ Megh KC as agent for chartered flights to Japan, according to a highly placed source in the Tourism Ministry. It is learnt that following the pressure from the ministry, NAC administration has assigned KC as the agent for the chartered flights to Japan.

Agent KC is charging 1800 to 2400 US$ per person in chartered flights to and from Japan which is 6 to 8 times more than the scheduled flights introduced by NAC 305 US$.

According to the NAC source, six flights were booked for Japan.
