On Tuesday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli underwent emergency appendectomy surgery.
PM Oli, after suffering from abdominal pain, had reached to the TUTH Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center Tuesday morning for medical check-up, where, doctors diagnosed appendicitis and they advised him to remove it immediately.
After the operation, Oli will have to stay at the hospital for some days.
PM Oli is a kidney patient and he has very low immunity. Just two days earlier, Oli had undergone fourth dialysis of his kidney at the Grande International Hospital. Sources say that members of the medical team attending PM Oli have advised PM Oli to undergo a second kidney transplant operation abroad.
Kidney transplant is possible in Nepal but doctors are not ready to take the risk. Therefore, Oli has been suggested to go abroad.
PM Oli’s physician Dr Dibya Singh Shah had gone to the USA for medical consultations. She has already returned to Kathmandu. She is insisting PM Oli to undergo kidney transplant operation in the US, according to sources.
After transplant operation, PM Oli should be admitted at the ICU for one month. Then after, he should take complete rest for a minimum of three months.
Although doctors had suggested for him to go for treatment as early as possible, Oli has delayed his medical trip considering the upcoming by-elections. Besides, Oli wanted to complete the unfinished works such as the reshuffle of the cabinet, handover the party’s executive chairmanship to Pushpakamal Dahal. Accordingly, as he has to take a long holiday, he has to assign a minister to look after the PM’s portfolio during his absence. More likely, DPM Ishwor Pokhrel is going to look after the PM’s portfolio during Oli’s absence. Probably, after the by-elections, PM Oli will go for medical treatment, said a source in Baluatar.
