NMA prepares profile of 414 peaks allowed for climbing

Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has prepared profiles of all 414 peaks which have been permitted by the government for climbing activities.
Santa Bir Lama, president of NMA, said that the committee formed to prepare mountain profiles of all 414 peaks of Nepal open for climbing has completed its task.
NMA said it will submit the report to the government soon.
Lama said that the mountain profile would be a special offering to the climbers on the occasion of VNY 2020.
A committee was formed to make a detailed profile of 414 peaks which have been open for climbing by the government of Nepal some three years ago.
Lama said that a climber could get all required information for a climber in just a click after the publication of mountain profile.
Huge resources have been spent in preparing the profile of the mountains. The committee had used helicopter to take pictures and gather other information about the peaks, he added.
Director General of the Department of Tourism (DoT) Dandu Raj Ghimire said that the government would promote the mountain profile prepared by the NMA as a special offering to mountain lovers on the occasion of VNY 2020.
Out of 414 peaks allowed by the government to climb, of 33 peaks have been found to be still virgin.
The DoT has proposed to provide these 33 peaks to NMA for its promotion. Currently, NMA is handling different 27 peaks to issue permission and promotion.
