Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who was unhappy with the performance of his private secretariat members, has dismissed some aides and assigned some new faces.
By ousting Dr Kundan Aryal, he has assigned Surya Thapa, NCP central committee member and chief of the Publicity Department. Accordingly, Lalshankar Ghimire, former finance secretary has been appointed as the economic advisor and Gajendra Thapaliya has been appointed as the development expert. Thapaliya has studied in China.
PM’s principal advisor Bishnu Rimal, foreign relations advisor Rajan Bhattarai, principal private secretary Indra Bhandari, media expert Ramsharan Bajagain and Hom Rimal, who were in the previous team, are continuing in the same positions.
Public relations advisor Achut Mainali, press coordinator Chetan Adhikari and private secretariat members Krishna Poudel, Ghanashyam Bhattarai and Udaya Pokhrel have been ousted from the PM’s private secretariat.
According to some reports, the PM was unhappy with some of the aides as he has suspected that they could be leaking some important information from the Prime Minister’s Office to foreign spy agencies. Specially, earlier to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit, some newspapers had published the visit schedule even when the visit was not formally announced.
In the meantime, on the suspect of leaking news about President Xi, Rajkumar Chhetri, general manager of the Civil Aviation Authority, Tribhuvan International Airport was transferred.
