CIAA nabs BPKIHS VC red-handed

Kathmandu, 12 July: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)  has arrested Raj Kumar Rauniyar , Vice Chancellor of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences  (BPKIHS) red-handed with bribe amount Rs 0.8 million from his own chamber, BPKIHS Dharan.

Rauniyar received the bribe amount Rs.0.8 million from the building contractor of BPKIHS. He had asked Ramhari Rauniyar, his nephew to store the amount safely. Rauniyar had become the VC some three years ago, since then many complaints had been lodged against him charging him of irregularities and corruption.

According to the CIAA, Rauniyar is the topmost official nabbed so far in corruption case. A few days back, Shambghu Prasad assistant dean of TU, Institute of Since and Technology was booked with Rs. 50,000 while Service Commission officials suspended on charge of manipulating score marks.
