Kathmandu, 11 June: India has agreed to allow two-way operation of Nepali rail service from Biratnagar and Birgunj to Kolkata-Haldiya. The agreement was reached during the third detailed review meeting of the Nepal-India railway service agreement held in New Delhi, India on June 6 and 7.
According to Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, an agreement was also reached to make, as per the transit treaty, necessary amendment in the railway service to also allow bulk cargo via rail from Biratnagar and Bhairahawa transits. Furthermore, additions will be made in the agreement after the Biratnagar-Jogbani, Sunauli-Nautanawa and Kurtha-Inarwa railway service comes into operation.
