Gokul Baskota, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, addressing the weekly press conference on last Thursday said that Nepal’s desire to create its own international image and presence was fulfilled after Nepal signed a protocol with China to implement the Transit and Transport Agreement inked earlier.
The protocol will remain as an important milestone in the country’s history, he said.
During President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s state visit to China the protocol was signed on 30 April.
Baskota said, “Nepal’s desire to create its own international image and meet the public aspirations after waiting for many years has been achieved after signing of this protocol.”
Implementation of the agreement would help garner success in enhancing Nepal’s skills, capability, international relations and access to international trade routes, he said.
China has allowed the use of Tianjin, Shenzhen, Lianyungang and Zhanjiang seaports and Lanzhou, Lhasa and Xigatse dry-ports while trading with third countries.
