Presidium system will no longer exist in the Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N). Created by merging six different Madhes-based parties before the 2017 election, the RJP-N had adopted a presidium system having all presidents of former six parties in the top of the party to operate it. One of them used to work as coordinator turn by turn for a certain time. But when Mahantha Thakur was ousted from coordinator a few months ago, the presidium system was dragged into controversies, promting Thakur to boycott almost all meetings held after that.
A meeting of the RJP-N held in Bhairahava decided to adopt a system of a single president and collective leadership in the party from its upcoming general convention.
A meeting of the Presidium and the Central Committee of RJP-N as well as the party committee of State 5 had begun in Bhairahava on Saturday to discuss the issues of its general convention scheduled for April.
Coordinator of the party presidium Mahendra Ray Yadav along with members Rajendra Mahato, Anil Kumar Jha, Sharad Singh Bhandari and Raj Kishore Yadav were present in the meeting. Sarvendra Shukla participated in the meeting on behalf of leader Mahantha Thakur.
