The state of executive, legislature, judiciary and mayor Balen Shah

    On/Off the Record

    By P.R. Pradhan

Mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolis Balen (Balendra) Shah said that he is ready to face any kind of punishment for the decision against the sovereignty and independence of the nation. He further said that he will not allow screening of the Hindi films including Adhipurush. Adhipurush distorted the original story of Ramayan and projected Sita (Janaki) as the daughter of India. If allowed to distort history and mythology, this is an encroachment on our civilization and culture.

The Akhanda Baharat mural in the newly constructed parliament building in Delhi, India, is also a cultural invasion. Neither Bharat existed nor it was an Akhanda (undivided). This represents the Indian attitude of expansionism and imperialism.

There left a few people who are lauding against the continuous Indian invasion of Nepal. Balen Shah is seen as a strongman who is fighting against such an invasion. Otherwise, there is no scarcity of foreign-paid traitors.

Those traitors are actively involved in destroying organs needed to function in a nation. First of all, they introduced seven provinces and 753 local bodies with the plan of destroying the country’s economy. Since the nation adopted federalism, the loan burden of the country has already become double. When the domestic revenue was unable to meet the general sector expenditure – salaries and facilities of such a large number of “people’s representatives”, the Finance Ministry is managing the general sector expenditure by taking domestic and foreign loans. Now, the Ministry is taking loans to pay back the previous loans. This is the indication that we are following the Sri Lankan path. Also, this makes clear that we are destroying our economy and we are unable to invest in infrastructural projects.

A section of “people’s representatives” who are exploiting the government coffer is also serving foreigners and earning foreign currency at the same time. This category of foreign-paid “people’s representatives” is now lobbying for dissolving the glorious existence of the Nepal Army. They never talk about declaring Nepal a “zone of peace”, they don’t speak about the Indian encroachment of the Nepali territory, they don’t talk about transforming Nepal into a strong economy, a developed nation and a prosperous nation but they want flourishing of Christianity, closure of the labour force consuming government-run industries. Already, they, who came to power in 1990, sold out many government-run labour-consuming industries in the name of economic liberalization. Even today, Swornim Wagle and Gagan Thapa like leaders making fools to the Nepali population saying that a country should not do business. This is the idea floated by those developed nations wanting to continue their dominance over underdeveloped countries. Once, Wagle was found saying that those foolish people only talk about the disposal of the Bansbari Shoe Factory but they don’t talk about mushrooming of the private sector shoe factories making Nepal self-reliant on shoe production. What about the disposal of the government-run sugar factories, which were paying sugarcane prices in advance and now the farmers are unable to receive the dues of the sugarcane they had supplied to the private factories five years ago? What about hundreds of thousands youths going to the Gulf countries for dirty jobs when they didn’t get employment at home?

Those who disposed of profit-earning government undertakings pocketed a huge amount of commission by disposing of strategic industries finally turning Nepal into a country totally reliant on imports. Today, we are even importing vegetables and food grains which we used to export earlier. The country’s domestic revenue totally relies on customs duty received from imported items.

Those foreign paid traitors don’t voice against India for not allowing new air routes for Nepal for full operation of the two newly built international airports, but they oppose the construction of the two new airports and also oppose the proposed Nijgadh airport, which are essential for Nepal like landlocked country.

The executive body or say the government is violating the court decision. The government is compelling the President to act unconstitutionally. There are hundreds of bills impending in Parliament. The government and the Parliament are not paying attention to the ratification of those bills, many of them are very essential. But against the constitutional norms, the citizenship law amendment bill, which was rejected by the previous President has been approved by the new President. On the day of Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal’s India visit, the bill was approved by the President just to please their Indian bosses. The court, against the constitutional spirit, gave a green signal for the implementation of the new citizenship law.

When the executive, legislative and judiciary bodies disobey the constitution, when such bodies act against the nation’s interests, of course, Mayor Balen Shah can say he will not obey the court decision which is guided from elsewhere!
