IME Group has introduced Salam Air’s direct flight Muscat-Kathmandu-Muscat scheduled flight. This international expansion of Salam Air will be locally handled by IME International Travel Pvt. Ltd., a travel subsidiary of IME Group.
Salam Air is the first budget carrier of Oman and has started its commercial operation since January 2017 making Muscat as its main hub. It occupies 5 aircraft currently: all 174-seater Airbus 320 and flies to 15 destinations including Muscat, Salalah, Suhar, Dubai, Doha, Jeddah, Karachi, Multan, Sialkot, Shiraz, Tbilisi, Baku, as well as newly introduced Dhaka, Khartoum and Najaf. Kathmandu is its 16th international destination and the direct flights between Kathmandu and Muscat will basically cater the Nepalese immigrants who are travelling to and from Muscat, Oman and onward to other countries of the Middle East and Asia at the most affordable price. Additionally, the tourists who are making Muscat as their transit, will also greatly benefit. Currently, Salam Air will make four flights in a week and hope to soon the add frequency to make it a daily flight.
Speaking at the Press Meet organized at Tribhuvan International Airport, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Vice President of FNCCI and IME Group’s Chairman stated that the flight will reduce the cost of the foreign employment for each employee offering the most affordable flight ticket. CEO of Salam Air Captain Mohamed Ahmed stated that the flight will contribute to the country’s economic development. CAAN Director General Sanjeev Gautam, TIA General Manager Raj Kumar Chhetri, IME Group MD Hem Raj Dhakal, Director of IME International Travels Arjun Poudel Sharma and CEO of IME International Travels Binod Sapkota expressed their views and congratulated Salam Air.
Salam Air has launched its frequent flyer program ‘More on Air’ recently which allows passengers who fly over 10 times a year to submit their boarding passes collected within one year of travel and receive a free Salam Air ticket to any of its destinations. Additionally, the passengers in its inaugural flight will get 50% discount in Chandragiri Cable Car tickets. In the future, all Salam Air passengers can get a 25% discount in Chandragiri Cable Car tickets. Additionally, the company will launch redemption plan to give additional values to its passengers.
