Rampant loot in Melamchi drinking water project

Kathmandu, 3 May: Even after spending 25 billion 200 million rupees, it is not sure when water from Melamchi will come to Kathmandu. According to the Auditor’s General’s report 2075, rampant loot has been witnessed in the project, reports Aarthik daily.

Millions worth bill payment has been cleared without necessary supporting documents, the report states.

Even after clearance of the bill submitted by the construction contractors, they have flee-away. This is an example that the project officials are demanding more commission to the construction contractors, say the report.

Officials in the Ministry of Drinking Water and Melamchi project have compelled the construction contractors to run away from the country without completing the project.
