President Bhandari in China

President Bidya Devi Bhandari is now in China on a state visit.
She left for China on Wednesday at the invitation of Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China.
During the visit, the President is scheduled to attend the ‘Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation’ to be held in Beijing and address the Forum.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Bahndari will also attend the banquet hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
President Bhandari will also attend the ‘Opening Ceremony of the International Horticultural Exhibition’ and visit Nepali pavilion there.
The President will hold delegation level bilateral talks with her Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, which will be followed by a signing ceremony.
She will also meet with senior Chinese leaders.
President Bhandari will address the joint meeting of business community from Nepal and China in Beijing. She will also attend the reception hosted by the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing.
The President will visit Xi’an, the capital city of Shaanxi Province, on her way to Beijing.
She will also visit Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region of China, on her way back home.
Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali had said that the visit of the President will take Nepal-China ties to a newer height. He said that the state visit of President Bhandari to China was going to be significant in several ways.
He also said that President Bhandari’s China visit would be reciprocated with similar visits from China. President Bhandari is scheduled to invite her Chinese counterpart during her visit.
Minister Gyawali also made it clear that no agreement would be signed on BRI during her visit. However, there would be letter of exchanges.
President Bhandari is accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Chief Minister of Province No. 3 Dor Mani Paudel, Members of Federal Parliament, high-ranking government officials, Ambassador of Nepal to China, representatives of private sector and media persons. It is the first state visit of President Bhandari after Nepal became a federal democratic republic.
The President and the delegation will return to Kathmandu on May 2.
