PM Oli, NC leader Mahat claim excellent environment for investment in Nepal

By Our Reporter
The government and the main opposition party expressed similar views in the recently concluded Nepal Investment Summit. This was one of the important features of the summit, as politicians in Nepal often tend to criticise every activity of the rival party.
When Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was telling that Nepal is a safe and virgin land for the foreign investors, former Finance Minister and Nepali Congress leader Dr Ram Sharan Mahat echoed with his views stating that Nepal that has overcome political instability was in need of foreign investment.
Dr Mahat said that the private sector, in recent times, had achieved much in telecommunication and energy sectors. Stating that the private sector in Nepal was encouraged for investment after 1990, the former finance minister noted that Nepal faced problems like political instability and natural disasters including earthquakes in the last two decades, adding that Nepal has now entered a new phase after surviving all these problems.
Stating it was high time for economic development, former minister Mahat was of the opinion that foreign investment was necessary for the same.
Prime Minister Oli and ministers tried their best to convince the participating delegates that Nepal is safe for investment and the government was committed to correct the shortcomings if there were any.
