By Our Reporter
Senior politician Kamal Rana, 88, believes that country like Nepal cannot sustain the burden of federalism. Rana, who enjoyed high-ranking positions during King Birendra’s era, said that if federalism is imposed, the country may split. In an interview to Annapurna Post daily, Rana said that after the people’s movement in 1989, due to the scarcity of morality, honesty and responsibility of the political parties as well as the political leaders, the nation failed to achieve the crème of the democracy.
If there will be lack of harmonious relations between KP Oli and Sher Bahadur Deuba, the present democracy cannot take off, she said.
“The ruling party as well as the opposition party is unable to develop consensus on the issues of national security, economy as well as foreign policy, rather, they are busy in toppling each other’s government,” she remarked.
She further said that the political leadership has to end political intervention in all the government organs. The entire populations should be assured of education, health services and individual security.
