Kami Rita Sherpa to climb Mt Everest for 25th time

By Our Reporter
Kami Rita Sherpa, the veteran mountaineer, who grew up in the shadow of Mount Everest, has already reached atop the highest peak a record 22 times.
However, his thirst to climb the highest peak has not yet been quenched. He had unveiled his dream to put his step on the summit of Mt. Sagarmatha at least 25 times.
He is now planning to climb the world’s highest peak from Nepal side for the 23rd time.
Sherpa is now 49 years old. But he said he would be summiting Everest for years to come, because he wanted to set a new record not just for himself but for his family, the Sherpa people and for his country.
“My profession is to climb mountains. I am chasing my dream to set a new record by summiting Mt. Everest at least for 25 times,” Kami Rita said.
Kami Rita has already set a record for most summits on Mt Everest. He climbed Mt. Everest for the first time in 1994, when he was 24.
He said he wouldn’t stop to climb the highest peak until his body would allow him to do so. He had already climbed most of the peaks above 8,000 metres, including K2, Cho-oyu, Lhoste and Annapurna.
