Baneshwor is a newly developed area where many ethnic groups, castes, and migrants from outside the Kathmandu Valley reside. The community is still underdeveloped and faces many difficulties, particularly unemployment for youth and women, amidst other difficult living situations.
The Ganesh Man Singh Foundation was established in 1997 and aims to provide society-building human resources. This project plans to build acommunity center in Baneshwor, to provide trainings related to income generation and to operate awareness programs such as public health and government services. With funds from the Kathmandu municipality, the construction of a learning center at the project site (the World Peace Temple compound) is already underway.
