Former Queen Mother hospitalized, former King postpones visit

Former Queen Mother Ratna Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah has been admitted at the Norvic International Hospital, Thapathali on 5 March for treatment.
Following illness of the Queen Mother, former King Gyanendra, who was in Damak and was scheduled to visit mid-eastern Tarai districts, postponed the visit and returned Kathmandu on Wednesday, 6 March, according to Dr Phani Pathak, press secretary of the former King.
According to a press statement issued by the Hospital, the former Queen Mother was suffering from influenza and cough for last one week.
Of late, the former Queen Mother, 91, is also suffering from diarrhea, and thus, she has been hospitalized for further treatment.
The former Queen Mother is undergoing treatment under the supervision of a team of medical doctors Khagendra Bahadur Shrestha, Mrigendra Raj Pandey, Madhu Ghimire and Brajendra Srivastav, according to the Hospital.
The People’s Review family wishes for speedy recovery of the former Queen Mother’s health.
The former King was scheduled to start visit of central and eastern Tarai from Wednesday.
He was scheduled to reach Janakpur in Dhanusha on Wednesday and stay in a hotel there. From Janakpur, he was planning to visit Udayapur and Rajbiraj. However, due to sickness of the former Queen Mother, he has postponed the visit for the time beings and has returned Kathmandu on Wednesday.
