Documentary on Nepali film industry

image010Journalist Rajan Ghimire, who has been reporting about Nepali cinema for more than two decades, has now come up with a documentary on the Nepali film industry (Kollywood) that traces the ups and downs of the movie industry since 2007.
The 45-minute film documents the history of Nepali cine industry, including the story behind how it started, the challenges it has gone through, its business managed, and its evolution to its current state, through the lens of a reporter.
“This is a personal attempt to record how I have seen, and reported about, our film industry. In doing so, I have also included bits from the industry’s history. Moreover, the documentary also features select cine artists’ opinions and reflections on the industry,” said director Ghimire.
Director Ghimire, who currently helms two Television shows, the weekly Clapboard (aired on NTV +) and NRN show, adds, “I hope the documentary will prove to be fruitful to all those who are enthusiastic about Kollywood and its history.”
The producers say the documentary, titled Nepali Cinema ko Yatra, will be showcased to audiences in the country and abroad soon; the screening date is yet to be finalised.
