By Babbler Acting Prime Minister? A prime minister is an elected person who should take the oath of office and secrecy from the head of the nation. The prime minister should be elected from the House of Representatives. If the prime minister is absent, the senior minister gets permission from the head of the nation to look after the day-to-day affairs. He is not an acting prime minister but a minister looking after the PM’s portfolio for the time being. Accordingly, in Nepal, journalists are found using the word acting ambassador. In fact, an ambassador assumes office as the representative of his country only after presenting a letter of credence. Sometimes, a charge d’affaires will also look after the ambassador’s works but he is not decorated with the title “acting ambassador” but he is called the charge d’affaires a.i. Will our journalists mind these terms? Don’t encroach rivers We must take the lesson from the recent devastating floods and landslides nationwide. The Kathmanduites should take the lesson that they should not encroach rivers. Rivers find their ways themselves. When ways are blocked, they become wild. The same happened on Saturday in the Valley. Our development-friendly political leaders are constructing roads to their villages. It is okay but there should be a scientific alignment conducted by experienced engineers on the possible impact including the possibility of landslides. The practice of operating bulldozers randomly in the name of development should be stopped. Otherwise, we will suffer a lot in the days to come. The message is stop challenging nature. Squatters at the river bank Squatters are created by the political system. Different political parties have used squatters as their vote bank, therefore, they are allowed to occupy land around the river banks. In fact, all of them are not real squatters. They have property elsewhere and their kids are doing well in foreign countries. Still, they are occupying the public land just to get facilities and free land from the government. If the government doesn’t take effective measures to end the squatters, it will be a permanent problem for the nation. Always, the political parties are thinking about distributing the government land to those so-called squatters. How long does the government distribute the land free of cost? Believe in nature, those so-called squatters occupying public land at the river banks have been punished as their unauthorized settlements are swept away by floods. QUOTES OF THE WEEK Nepal was the Chair of the Least Developed Countries in the world 43 years ago, and even after 43 years, many countries have upgraded to the level of Developing Countries during this period. Still, we feel glory from becoming the Chair of the same LDCs! Keshav P. Bhattarai In a country where there is no industry, the industry should be opened and provide employment, erecting a view tower will not provide employment. It's robbery. Narendra Bikram Chand Should cooperative frauds be punished or rewarded? Barakhari News (Reacting on the government nomination to an undergraduate person to the post of the ambassador) It is the responsibility of the Chief Secretary not to allow the political leadership to make mistakes due to the personal background of the proposed person. In the decision, including the recommendation of the ambassador's appointment, it has been seen that the Secretariat led by the Chief Secretary has not fulfilled its duty. Govinda Adhikari Prakash Singh's protection of his sister in the Bal Mandir land scam is a mockery of Ganeshman Singh's political sacrifice and honesty. Due to such cunningness of throwing stones in the eyes of the people by misusing the office, serious questions are being raised not only on Congress but also on this government. Om Kumar Thapa Why did the two big parties of opposite poles form the government together, that is, to protect the corrupt? Stability does not mean that people are corrupt. In how much time will the Bal Mandir probe report be implemented? When is it going to be public? Sumana Taking care of orphaned children, not completing the minimum legal process at the cost of a lot of valuable land, raising 12 lakhs a month in Jaypee School and giving only 1 lakh to the school, and cooperative fraud are different things, do not compare, why did you have to defend, to weaken the case, it would have been difficult to read the task force! Roshan Shiwakoti This year, there is no Dasain for the senior citizens. There is no old-age allowance. Madhav Acharya The proposed ambassador to Sri Lanka, Ramkrishna Bhattarai, has withdrawn his name after failing to provide the official certificate of graduation. This is a sample of how much access a person without even the minimum qualifications has to the government and the party. If the hearing committee had not asked for the certificate, the undergraduate candidate could have become an ambassador. Madhav Dhungel Now that the country has not been able to meet the expenses for running the seven provinces. If 14-15 provinces are introduced as demanded by some political leaders on the basis of ethnicity, there will be many other ethnic provinces in the country of 125 ethnicities. The obligation to meet such ever-increasing demands will lead to further fragmentation of the country. Badri Khanal  Kapil Shrestha, who was suspended after one year from the National Human Rights Commission for alleged sexual misconduct, has been nominated as the ambassador. Dhanprasad Pandit, who did not pay the 15,000 fine imposed by the court, has also been approved as an ambassador. What message should we get from such approvals? Ukaalo After complaining about the lack of fuel facilities, 75 liters of petrol were added to the Speaker of Koshi Province, 50 liters were also added for the Deputy Speaker. People can drink fuel and can eat electricity instead of food and juice! Nirmal Prasai Nepal is the only country where intellectuals stand against wisdom. Rajesh Ahiraj What kind of democratic party is the Congress? The party demands the arrest of the other party’s leaders on alleged cooperative fraud but remains silent on their leader Dhanraj Gurung’s involvement in the cooperative fraud! Kirtika Tharu The country was engaged in conflict for 10 years. Within five years, there was no need to take up arms against it. Those 10 years wasted precious time of the country.
