Parties in government preparing to terminate deputy speaker Rana
Kathmandu, The UML has instructed its parliamentarians not to leave the Kathmandu Valley until September 19. The chief whip of the party, Mahesh Bertaula, has sent a message to the parliamentarians through mobile phones with instructions not to leave the Valley.
UML has asked the parliamentarians not to leave the valley in preparation to register a no-confidence motion against deputy speaker Rana to remove her. The ruling party is preparing to register a no-confidence motion in the House of Representatives against Rana, citing Article 91 of the Constitution for "not befitting the position.
Article 91, Sub-section 960 (c) of the Constitution provides that if the motion is passed by a majority of two-thirds of the total number of members of the House of Representatives, the speaker or the deputy speaker shall be removed from office.
